Associate Professor Enda Brophy of Simon Fraser University was awarded the 2018 CAWLS book of the year award for his work, Language Put to Work: The Making of the Global Call Centre Workforce which examines the expansion of transnational call centres as a global industry, and explores the working lives of call centre employees. Undergraduate student, Jerik Brown, also of SFU, received the CAWLS award for outstanding undergraduate scholarship for his paper “Affect at Work.” The paper is an exploration of the role of affect in male dominated workplaces. Jerik is a Geography major and a member of the Labour Studies Student Union at SFU. Brown is pictured above on the right.
